CALL TO WORSHIP (Psalm 4)
Leader: Answer when we call, O God of our right!
People: You gave us room when we were in distress; be gracious, and hear our prayer.
Leader: Our honor suffers shame;
People: As your people love vain words, and take comfort in lies.
Leader: But know that the Lord has set apart the faithful for himself;
People: The Lord hears when we call to him.
Leader: When we are troubled, we should not sin, but ponder it in silence from our beds;
People: We will offer right sacrifices, and call on the Lord.
Leader: Many call on the Lord, that the light of his face might shine on them;
People: For the gladness in our hearts is greater than when grain and wine abound.
Leader: We will both lie down and sleep in peace;
All: For the Lord alone makes us lie down in safety.
PRAYER OF PRESENCE
All: Holy Lord and Creator of all things, we pray to you. This morning we look to set our troubles aside and look to you, our only true hope in the world. Lord, we worship your majesty and stand in awe of the scope and beauty of your creation. We thank you, that you who are so great, love us who are so small. Your radiance outshines the sun, and you walk in glory in the heavens. For your wondrous glory and your loving mercies, we praise and bless your most holy name. Amen.
HYMN OF PRAISE “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”
(hummed – not sung)
Come, thou Fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above;
Praise his name – I'm fixed upon it – name of God's redeeming love.
Here I raise my Ebenezer, hither by thy help I've come;
And I hope, by thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger, bought me with his precious blood.
O to grace how great a debtor daily I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to thee:
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love;
Here's my heart, O, take and seal it; seal it for thy courts above.
PASSING OF THE PEACE
(Please remain in place, and greet your nearest neighbors with a wave and a blessing of peace)
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
All: Holy God of grace and mercy, hear our prayer. You sent to us your son, Jesus Christ, as light of the world. Yet we prefer to walk in darkness. We know Jesus to be the Lord of Life, yet we gave him up for dead. You raised him from death, yet our doubts linger. God of grace, forgive us. Help us to receive with gratitude the great gift of love you offer. And help us to live life as your beloved children; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
(Responsive Hymn #817 – to be hummed, not sung) - Hear our prayer O Lord. Hear our prayer O Lord. Incline thine ear to us, and grant us Thy peace. Amen.
WORDS OF ASSURANCE (1 John 5:11b-13)

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
SERMON HYMN “O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus”
(Hummed- not sung)
O the deep, deep love of Jesus, vast, unmeasured, boundless free,
Rolling as a mighty ocean in its fullness over me!
Underneath me, all around me, is the current of his love,
Leading onward, leading homeward to that glorious rest above.
O the deep, deep love of Jesus, spread his praise from shore to shore!
He who loves us, ever loves us, changes never, nevermore.
He, who died to save his loved ones, intercedes for them above;
He, who called them his own people, watches over them in love.
O the deep, deep love of Jesus, love of every love the best,
Vast the ocean of his blessing, sweet the haven of his rest!
O the deep, deep love of Jesus – for my heaven of heavens is he,
This my everlasting glory – Jesus' mighty love for me!

The third day he rose from the dead
He ascended into heaven
And sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, The holy catholic church,
The communion of saints, The forgiveness of sins,
The resurrection of the body,
And the life everlasting. Amen.

Through days of toil when heart doth fail, God will take care of you;
When dangers fierce your path assail, God will take care of you.
God will take care of you, through every day, o'er all the way;
He will take care of you, God will take care of you.
All you may need he will provide, God will take care of you;
Nothing you ask will be denied, God will take care of you.
God will take care of you, through every day, o'er all the way;
He will take care of you, God will take care of you.
No matter what may be the test, God will take care of you.
