Leader: Those who seek the Lord shall praise him! The poor shall eat and be satisfied. May your hearts live forever!
People: All the ends of the earth will remember, and turn to the Lord;
Leader: And all the families of the nations will bow down before him;
People: For dominion belongs to the Lord, and he rules over all nations.
Leader: All the rich of the earth will feast and worship;
People: And all those who go down to dust will kneel before him.
Leader: Posterity will serve him, and future generations will be told about the Lord,
All: And people yet unborn will proclaim all that the Lord has done! Praise the Lord!
PRAYER OF PRESENCE
All: Holy Lord, send us your blessing as we come together in your name. Help us to put aside our worldly cares, and to focus on your goodness. Grant us the everlasting love that can only be known by your presence. Teach us to be merciful and compassionate, as you are to us. And make our worship pleasing to you, through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
HYMN OF PRAISE “O Worship the King” (verses 1, 3 & 4)
(hummed – not sung)
O worship the King, all glorious above,
O gratefully sing his power and love;
Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days,
Pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise.
Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;
It streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,
And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.
Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
In thee do we trust, nor find thee to fail;
Thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end,
Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend.
PASSING OF THE PEACE
(Please remain in place, and greet your nearest neighbors with a wave and a blessing of peace)
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
All: God our Redeemer, we confess that we are people of ashes and dust. You call us to be a blessing in the world, but we only seek our own benefit. You call us to give our lives for others, but we only seek to save ourselves. God of grace, forgive us. Set our minds on divine things – the Good News of the Gospel, and the promise of new life in you. We pray this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
(Responsive Hymn #817 – to be hummed, not sung) - Hear our prayer O Lord. Hear our prayer O Lord. Incline thine ear to us, and grant us Thy peace. Amen.
WORDS OF ASSURANCE (2 Corinthians 5:17-18)
All: If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All of this is from God who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.
*Gloria Patri: Glory be to The Father (hummed – not sung)
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
World without end, Amen, Amen.
SUMMARY OF THE LAW (Romans 12:9-11)
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

SERMON HYMN “I Want Jesus to Walk with Me”
(Hummed- not sung)
I want Jesus to walk with me;
I want Jesus to walk with me;
All along my pilgrim journey,
Lord, I want Jesus to walk with me.
In my trials, Lord, walk with me;
In my trials, Lord, walk with me;
When my heart is almost breaking,
Lord, I want Jesus to walk with me.
When I'm in trouble, Lord, walk with me;
When I'm in trouble, Lord, walk with me;
When my head is bowed in sorrow,
Lord, I want Jesus to walk with me.
SCRIPTURE READINGS – Mark 8:31-38
THE MORNING MESSAGE - “Peter's Rebuke“
*OFFERTORY PRAYER AND DOXOLOGY
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below.
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
*APOSTLES CREED
I believe in God the Father, almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, dead, and buried.
The third day he rose from the dead
He ascended into heaven
And sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
The holy catholic church,
The communion of saints,
The forgiveness of sins,
The resurrection of the body,
And the life everlasting. Amen.
JOYS & CONCERNS – MORNING PRAYER – THE LORD'S PRAYER
(Lord’s Prayer – “…sins / …those who sin against us…”)
*CLOSING HYMN “A Charge to Keep I Have”
(hummed – not sung)
A charge to keep I have, a God to glorify,
A never-dying soul to save, and fit it for the sky.
To serve the present age, my calling to fulfill,
O may it all my powers engage to do my Master's will.
Arm me with watchful care as in thy sight to live,
And now thy servant, Lord, prepare a strict account to give!
Help me to watch and pray, and still on thee rely,
O let me not my trust betray, but press to realms on high.
*CLOSING PRAYER & BENEDICTION
*CHORAL POSTLUDE: "Lord, Dismiss Us with your Blessing"
(hummed – not sung)
Lord, dismiss us with your blessing; fill our hearts with joy and peace;
Let us each, your love possessing, triumph in redeeming grace;
O direct us and protect us, traveling through this wilderness.
