CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 52)
Leader: The boasts of the mighty, of mischief against the godly, are the works of treachery.
People: They love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking truth.
Leader: But God will break them down forever,
People: And the righteous will see, and fear, and laugh at the evildoer.
Leader: But let us be as the green olive tree in the house of God,
People: Trusting in the steadfast love of God forever and ever.
Leader: We will thank you forever because of what you have done,
All: Praising your name forever, for it is good.
PRAYER OF PRESENCE
All: Eternal God of heaven and earth, we come to you this morning to praise your most holy name. You are the light of the world, the breath of all life, the maker of all Creation. In your love for us you sent us Christ Jesus. In his sacrifice on the cross we are forgiven and reconciled to you. You have shown us grace beyond measure, and your holy presence is always with us. We ask your blessing in our worship of you this morning, in the name Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
HYMN OF PRAISE “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” Hymn #60
PASSING OF THE PEACE
PRAYER FOR GRACE
All: Most gracious God, hear our prayer. The weight of our sins is heavy. You commanded us to love, yet we cannot bring ourselves to do it. You are on our minds one moment and gone from them the next. We prefer to ignore our neighbors – not to love them. For our sins of thought, word, and deed, we humbly repent. We ask for your mercy, and pray that we may live more closely in your perfect love. We pray this in the name of our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Amen.
(Responsive Hymn #817) - Hear our prayer O Lord. Hear our prayer O Lord. Incline thine ear to us, and grant us Thy peace. Amen.
WORDS OF ASSURANCE (Romans 8:38-39)
“...I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
*Gloria Patri: Glory be to The Father
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be;
World without end; Amen, amen.
