A MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR ON THE SUSPENSION OF SERVICES DURING THE CORONAVIRUS (3/14/20):
Dear Faith Reformed Family,
Since I sent out yesterday's e-mail advising that the church would remain open for worship, I have learned that there are now multiple confirmed cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus in Hazlet and in the Bayshore Medical Center. Since this virus is now in our community, and since many of our members are in at-risk demographics, I have decided, in consultation and with the support of the Consistory of the Church, to suspend services and classes through the end of March, and to re-assess the situation at that time. This decision was made with the health and well-being of our members in mind.
During this time we will be exploring ways of worshiping online together, caring for each other, maintaining faithful giving, and being there for our members, our families, and our communities in service and in prayer. This will take some adjusting, and we don't know yet what those efforts will look like, but please keep an eye on further e-mails and on the church website, frchazlet.org for more information.
We all know that the church is its people - not a building. We are still the church together even when we are not together, and we will remain the church, even if we have to adjust how we do things for a time.
Please pray for our church, for our communities, for our healthcare workers, and for all those affected by this pandemic - at home and around the world. We are all a family and we are all in this together. Let us remember Paul's words in his letter to the Philippians:
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
-Philippians 4:6-7
May God bless us and all the children of his Creation during this time.
Grace and peace,
Rev. David Moore
