PRAYER OF PRESENCE
All: Holy Lord, we gather this morning to worship you. Holy Father, you are our Creator and the giver of all life. Holy Spirit, you instill a glimpse of the divine in us, and give us hearts to love. Holy Son, Christ Jesus, you are our eternal advocate, on earth and in heaven. We worship you in your heavenly unity. Accept our praise this morning. Let our prayers reach you. And bless us as we seek to honor and glorify you. We pray this in your most holy name. Amen.
* HYMN OF PRAISE “Holy God, We Praise Your Name” (verses 1, 2, & 4)
Holy God, we praise your name, Lord of all, we bow before you;
All on earth your scepter claim, all in heaven above adore you;
Infinite your vast domain, everlasting is your reign.
Hark! The loud celestial hymn, angel choirs above are raising;
Cherubim and seraphim in unceasing chorus praising;
Fill the heavens with sweet accord; holy, holy, holy Lord.
Holy Father, Holy Son, Holy Spirit, Three we name you;
While in essence only one, undivided God we claim you,
Then, adoring, bend the knee, and confess the mystery.
PASSING OF THE PEACE
PRAYER FOR GRACE

All: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not from works, so that no one may boast.”

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
World without end, Amen, Amen.
CALL TO FAITHFUL LIVING (Romans 12:12-16a)
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you – bless, and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice. Mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another.”
HYMN FOR ILLUMINATION (seated) “Spirit of the Living God” Verse 1
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Break me, melt me, mold me, fill me;
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
SERMON HYMN “I Am Not Skilled to Understand”
I am not skilled to understand what God has willed, what God has planned;
I only know at his right hand stands one who is my Savior.
I take him at his word and deed: “Christ died to save me,” this I read,
And in my heart I find a need of him to be my Savior.
That he should leave his place on high and come for sinners here to die;
You find it strange? So once did I, before I knew my Savior.
I hope that Christ my Lord may see fulfillment of his work in me;
And with his child contented be, as I with my dear Savior.
Yes, living, dying, let me bring my strength, my comfort from this spring:
That he who lives to be my King once died to be my Savior.
SCRIPTURE READINGS – John 3:1-17
THE MORNING MESSAGE – “An Old New Idea“
*OFFERTORY PRAYER AND DOXOLOGY
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below.
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
*NICENE CREED
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,
Eternally begotten of the Father, God from God,
Light from Light, true God from true God,
Begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father;
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
Was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate:
He suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures;
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
And his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of Life,
Who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
Who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,
Who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in the one holy catholic and apostolic church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
And the life of the world to come.
Amen.
JOYS & CONCERNS – MORNING PRAYER – THE LORD'S PRAYER
(Lord’s Prayer – “…sins / …those who sin against us…”)

We will extol you, ever-blessed Lord;
Your holy Name forever be adored;
Each day we love our psalm to you we raise;
You, God and King, are worth of all praise,
Great and unsearchable in all your ways.
You, Lord, are gracious, merciful to all,

And slow to anger, merciful and kind,
In your compassion we your blessings find.
We love you with our heart and strength and mind.
*CLOSING PRAYER & BENEDICTION
