People: This is the Lord’s doing – it is marvelous in our eyes.
Leader: This is the day that the Lord has made;
People: Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Leader: The Lord is God, and he has given us light;
People: The Lord is God, and we will give thanks!
Leader: O, give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
All: His steadfast love endures forever!
PRAYER OF PRESENCE
All: Praise to you, Holy God in the highest! We come to your house this morning to worship your majesty. The power of the mightiest kings and the gold of the wealthiest princes pales before the name of the King of Kings and the Prince of Peace. Your son, our Lord Jesus, rode into Jerusalem on the back of a humble donkey, towards his shameful death on the cross. But in his humility and sacrifice he shows his great love for all humanity. Send your Holy Spirit upon us as we gather to proclaim that love and live into your grace. In the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
HYMN OF PRAISE “Hosanna, Loud Hosanna” Hymn #203
PASSING OF THE PEACE
PRAYER FOR GRACE
All: Holy redeeming God, we pray in confession to you. We confess that we have sinned against you, in thought, word, and action; by what we have done, and what we have left undone. Our sin deserves no forgiveness. Yet we confess our faith in your love. By your love alone we are saved and made righteous. Have mercy on our weakness, and lend strength to our most loving inclinations. In the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
(to be sung - Hear our prayer O Lord. Hear our prayer O Lord. Incline thine ear to us, and grant us Thy peace. Amen.
WORDS OF ASSURANCE (John 16:33)
